FACILITIES DESCRIPTION

SWRS has laboratories where scientists may set up bench-space to conduct their work.  Outdoor animal behavior enclosures are available (the Animal Behavior Observatory, and others), as are indoor animal holding facilities (the Live Animal Holding Facility, which contains four climate-controlled rooms and 2 natural light/temperature porches).

A computer room provides space for scientists to set up their own computers, in addition to three shared Station computers for DSL Internet access.  Additionally, all laboratories are hardwired for DSL.  If your laptop does not have an Ethernet port you should purchase an adaptor before you arrive to the station.  Internet access is available for a fee.

Our small special library has publications relating to all the major groups studied here, and also houses regionally synoptic collections of birds, mammals, insects, arthropods, and an herbarium.

These facilities are all available to scientists staying here.  Additionally, “outside” scientists may access the library/collections area – they must sign in at the office prior to doing this.
