PBI Role Professional Experience Personal Statement

Denise Wyniger is Collaborating Scientist and former postdoctoral trainee on the PBI project (2004/2005). She will continue her revisional work on Palearctic genera of the phylines, as well start working on the Hallodapini.

During her time as a PBI postdoctoral trainee Denise worked on the revision of several North American phyline genera, including Coquillettia, Orectoderus, and Teleorhinus. Her future projects within the PBI will be the phylogenetic analyses of the Hallodapini as well as the study of South African phyline genera. She will further continue and broaden her revisional work of palaearctic phyline genera.

My Post Doctoral time in the PBI project was for me a great and successful experience. The opportunity to work with North American genera, and to now serve as a Collaborating Scientist working with Hallodapini and South African phyline, was and is for me a perfect opportunity to broaden my knowledge of the phyline genera beyond the Palearctic.
Working at the AMNH in New York was fascinating and for me a wonderful time. It was not easy to say goodbye! For me it is just wonderful still to be part of the PBI project as a Collaborating Scientist!
