About the Organization

The Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences is located in the heart of St. Petersburg. This venerable institution contains collections made by Peter the Great, but dates its official opening to 1832. The Museum now serves as the national zoological museum of Russia. The unparalleled Heteroptera collections of the institute were developed largely as a result of the efforts of A. N. Kiritshenko and I. M. Kerzhner.

Postdoctoral investigator Fedor Konstantinov is a lecturer at the St. Petersburg State University.

Contribution to the Project

The Zoological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences will serve as the home institution of postdoctoral investigator Fedor Konstantinov.

Collections: The Zoological Institute contains more than 80,000 specimens, the single largest collection of Orthotylinae and Phylinae from the Palearctic. As such the Institute collections form an essential resource for the PBI project.
