Dear Prof. Osborn:

You left fairly good luck behind you. We have as new specimens a fairly good pair of Arsinoitherium jaws and a very good half jaw of same genus, parts of two skulls of same (neither very good) four or five very good small jaws, good hind bones (ulna + [?]) of large genera. The promise for good bones in Quarry B is good, I think.

Today I have been to the westward with Herr Markgraf and he has showed me where all of the skulls came from, also the western bone pits of Beadnell. He seems willing to work for us and has written a letter which will probably explain his terms. I will add that he has already a dozen or so very small jaws and some Arsinoitherium material worth probably $50 at least. He is a bit of a butcher but still with proper instruction would do fairly well and take out bones. He thinks he can get a good Zeuglodon skull for us, as nearly as I can understand him he will wait at his present camp until your reply is received. Four dollars per day for a month or so could be well afforded I should think, even if we have to let some of our Arabs go earlier than we had anticipated.

May I ask you to inquire of Mr. Ferrar just what has been done about shellae. This is a most important matter to us. In any event we shall need some more alcohol, and I think it should not be (?) spirits - that may have been the trouble before. Anything you can get for us in the way of shellae will be useful. I shall need more gum arabic too in a week or so. Perhaps this can be obtained through Fleurent, or maybe by the Survey Dept.

My bill at Fleurent's for (?) is due and I do not know just what method is best for sending money in payment. If you get this in time could you arrange to pay it out of the fund you are placing at my disposal at (?).

I trust you had a pleasant trip back to Sina. My compliment to Mrs. Osborn and all of you best and my regards respectfully

Very sincerely yours,
