My dear Brown:
In answer to your letter of October 19th, I have arranged for a car in the following manner: a car is to start from Seattle on or about December 1, half full of specimens secured by Mr. Stone. it will stop at Miles city to receive our fossils. I fear it will be an ordinary freight car, and we must arrange for the skulll to be pushed in the door on end and then gradually lowered to the bottom of the car. You will have to give careful instructions regardinng the loading of this and the other boxes.
The arrangement is that we prepay the freight through to St. Paul, which amount the company will subsequently refund. From St. Paul East we get the transportation free. You will have to send Mr. Wileys address to Mr. Winser so that Mr. Winser can send him out a check for the amount of the freight.
I approve of your sale of the outfit; and of your trip to Billings. Also of your taking our vacation.
I regret that it will be impssible for us to viit Mr. Wilburs fossil this time; but I think there is little doubt that we shall return to Montana next spring for this and other purposes.
All is going finely in the Museum. During the next month we propose to get the new East Wing in order.
With kindest regards and hoping to hear from you soon,
Always sincerely yours,
[Osborn]
Mr. Barnum Brown
