My Dear Brown,
I have just received your letter of October 21st and entirely approve of your leaving the fossils in the care of Mr. Maples, especially if he is a man who is relly interested in our work and we can rely upon him to pack them strictly according to your directions.
I await with interest the report of you trip to the Crow reservation. I am as you know, extremely desirous of finding a new Jurassic locality, since, while we are getting splended materials from the quarries in Wyoming there is no prospect of comlet skeletons or of completing the specimens already secured.
I have heard from Mr. Wilbut to the effect that Mr. Kelly is ready to go out with you; but Dr. Matthew has written Mr. Wilbut saying that we fear it is too late in the season.
I have in mind a plan for sending you immediately to South Africa to look over the ground and report as to what can be done. I have the aproval of President Jesup for this expedition; but I have not yet secured the money. So it would be well for you not to make your vacation more than a week in length.
Always very sincerely yours,
[Prof Osborn]
