My Dear Prof Osborn:-
I have been riding he hills from Miles City for the last two days while waiting for some horses to come in. The immediate surrounding beds are lignite and dark shale lowere cretaceous containing no vertebrate or invertebrate remains as far as I have seen.
I shall purchase part of an outfit and hire some of it tomorrow for a two week trip on Powder River where bone have been found. By the time I get back Dr. Lull should have arrivd and we will start for the Missouri River.
Shall need two hundred dollads immediately. You can send check or have some deposited in Colonial Bank.
Have purcharsed team and rented saddle horse.
I hear of a good many bones in Powder River and hope to give a good report from this locality.
Sincerely yours,
Barnum Brown.
