Forsyth, Mont., June 19th 1902

My Dear Prof. Osborn,

I have just returned from up the Porcupine Creek forty miles where I located the Dinosaur found by Mr. Harrison the Surveyor.

It turns out to be a Misosarir and consists of fifteen vertebrate and part of a humerus all badly weathered and broken up so that they were not worth bringing in.

From the vertebrates associated with this specimen the horizon seems to be Fort Pierre. I was greatly disappointed as you can well believe for I had expected this to be a good specimen from the description of it. It is a great question with me what is best to do under the circumstances. Whether to buy or rent an outfit. The best figures I have been able to obtain is six dollars per day for rent of an outfit while it is equally expensive to buy, but I rather thing I shall buy these horses and rest of equipment at Miles City where I am going tomorrow.

I shall try to rent an outfit with understanding that rent goes on payment of purchase if I wish to buy after two weeks. The Missouri River still promises favorable ground.

You had best place two hundred dollars to my credit in the Colonial Bank for I shall need more money if an outfit is purchased.

Shall go north to Missouri River upon return to Miles City if there are no other instructions awaiting me there.

Hoping this outline meets your approval. I am,

Sincerely yours

Barnum Brown
