My dear Walter, I wrote to you about a week ago, addressing the letter of (?) Stein, St Joe, Wyo., as I was very uncertain whether it would reach you. I made out a requisition for the additional &200 asked for in your letter of Aug. 8 to Smythe, and it will be placed to your credit in a day or so. Nothing new at present; the Phenacodus mount seems to be progressing well, thou I have not looked into it carefully. Laborating opens today again for regular work. I am continuing on Equidae and have at last solved the most difficult price of specific differentiation I ever undertook - the Paunec Creek horses. It had me stalled for over two weeks, solid time. I cleared it up at last, but need to re-study the stratigraphy of that section, to confirm my conclusions. Sincerely yours, W. D. Matthew |
