My dear Brown:

I was deeply interested in your letter of July 24th from Glasgow, Montana. Do not fail to put the numbers at the top of your letters; then I shall know whether I am getting everything you write.

Your recovery of the Trachodon was well worth while, and I am already negotiating with Dr. Smith Woodward about it. We should certainly be able to net something for it.

Your account of the cyclone is most dramatic and the terrible heat agrees entirely with what we hear from Granger and from other parts of the West. I shall look for letters from you from British Columbia addressed to Glacier Park Hotel, Belton , Montana, to which point I am hoping to take my family although my movements are somewhat uncertain. This will mean that if I reach you at all it will be after my outing in the mountains. All goes well here. At the last meeting of the Trustees Dr. Matthew was promoted to the curatorship of the Department of Vertebrate Paleontology, and I hope you will write him a letter of congratulation. At the same time I was elected Honorary Curator of the Department of Vertebrate Paleontology. This does not mean that I shall relinquish my close touch with the progress of the department; but it will relieve me of certain details of administration. I think Matthew would welcome a letter of congratulations from you. This means also that before many years Granger and yourself will be promoted to associated curatorships.

The sloth group begins to look finely; the tree is being done. The dinosaur skull has been turned out splendidly, and the Stenonylus group is complete.

I have arranged to move the entire Pleistocene exhibition (moved) into the Mineral Hall. Believe me,

Always with best greetings, sincerely yours,

H.F. Osborn

Send your regular reports as usual to the museum; write me at Belton only regarding your movements and address. H.F.O.
