Modoc L6 Ordinary Chondrite

Fell September 2, 1905
Scott County, Kansas
This sample illustrates fusion crust. Fusion means "melting", and the crust is the thin outer black rind on the stone. On the upper left corner, a bit of the meteorite has broken off, and the interior of the stone can be clearly seen, as well as the thin edge of the broken fusion crust.
