Internet Resources for Astronomy and Science Education
Happily, there's so much stuff out there now for
astronomy and science education, that a page like this can't hope
to be comprehensive. Most of these sites have extensive links to
other sites as well; overlap may be significant.
This list is relatively short, and I would be glad to add more;
so if you have suggestions, please let me know.
AMERICAN ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY EDUCATION OFFICE
-- This is the first point of contact for education and outreach support
on the AAS website. Everything from lesson plans and where to get them,
to science education research contacts, to E/PO proposal-writing and more.
ASTRONOMICAL SOCIETY OF THE PACIFIC
-- A Selected List of Web Sites for Instructors of Introductory Astronomy.
See also their information about
Project ASTRO, a program in which I participate.
AMERICAN PHYSICAL SOCIETY
-- Education and Outreach website.
EDUCATIONAL SERVICES -- Department of Astronomy, University of Texas at Austin.
This site includes information on the well-known StarDate radio series.
It also has a very nice set of astronomy links.
E.R.A.P.S. -- Educational Resources in Astronomy and Planetary Science
(University of Arizona).
NATIONAL OPTICAL ASTRONOMY OBSERVATORIES -- Just some of the educational
resources and activities provided by
America's national observatory ,
supported by the National Science Foundation.
OFFICE OF PUBLIC OUTREACH -- Space Telescope Education Group website.
See also STScI's general
OPOSITE , which has lots of pretty pictures.
SCI-ED: SCIENCE AND MATHEMATICS EDUCATION RESOURCES
-- University of Washington.
SPACE TELESCOPE SCIENCE
INSTITUTE -- Educational Materials
-- Students for the Exploration and Development of Space. They are a
very, very nice archiver of astronomical images.
ZEBU -- University of Oregon
Department of Physics, Educational Outreach Server. A multi-faceted site.
