Research Interests

Recent publications range in subject matter from taxonomy to ethology, as I continue research focus on the systematics of the wasp family Vespidae worldwide, to which most of the published work relates.  Geographical focus has been notably on the Oriental, and adjoining parts of the Palearctic Region.  Publications dealing with Vietnam are part of a 20-year collaboration with scientists in Hanoi.  The India publications are from a collaboration begun about six years ago, which now encompasses two research groups, in Kozhikode and Bengaluru.  The publications concerning China and Pakistan represent the first fruits of collaborations begun more than two years ago.  I also continue to publish on Vespidae of the Neotropics, especially in Brazil (with coauthors who I began collaborating with more than 20 years ago) and in French Guiana (with coauthors who I first published with 20 years ago).

Please contact Dr. Carpenter if you are interested in borrowing non-apoid Hymenoptera or visiting this part of the collection.
