Wilkinson and Nussbaum, 2006, In Exbrayat (ed.), Reprod. Biol. Phylog. Gymnophiona: 39-78, diagnosed this taxon and noted that this taxon is most similar to, and presumably related to, Siphonops and MimosiphonopsMaciel, Castro, Sturaro, Silva, Ferreira, Santos, Risse-Quaioto, Barboza, Oliveira, Sampaio, and Schneider, 2019, Zool. Anz., 281: 76–83, reported on the systematics of the species in the genus and the relationship of the genus, placing it as the sister taxon of Siphonops
