Type locality: "Davis Gap, Waynesville, North Carolina", USA; emended by Bishop, 1943, Handb. Salamanders: 224, to "Davis Farm, about 2 miles east and a little north of Waynesville, (Haywood County) on Highway No. 276." Status rejected by Martof, 1962, Am. Midl. Nat., 67: 30.
