Hylarana (Sylvirana) menglaensis Fei, Ye, and Xie In Fei, Ye, Jiang, and Xie, 2008, Acta Zootaxon. Sinica, 33: 201. Holotype: CIB 890166, by original designation. Type locality: "Zhushihe of Mengla County , Yunnan Province (21.48°N , 101.56°E; alt . 1000 m)".

English Names

Mengla Frog (Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 357). 


Mengla, Menghai, and Ximeng Counties, Yunnan, China, and in adjacent northwestern Vietnam (Dien Bien and Son La Province); presumably to be found in adjacent northeastern Myanmar and northern Laos.


In the Hylarana (Sylvirana) nigrovittata group, and previously confused with Hylarana nigrovittata, according to the original publication. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1155-1160, provided an account, figures, and map for China and placed it in their Hylarana (Sylvirana) hekouensis group. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 317, provided a brief account including photographs. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 357, provided an account (as Sylvirana menglaensis), photographs, and a range map for China. Le, Pham, Nguyen, Ziegler, and Nguyen, 2014, Russ. J. Herpetol., 21: 315–321, provided explicit records for Dien Bien and Son La provinces in northwestern Vietnam and provided an account including morphological, acoustic, and ecological observation.
