Rana neba Ryuzaki, Hasegawa, and Kuramoto, 2014, Alytes, 31: 51. Holotype: IABHU F2553, by original designation. Type locality: "Mt. Chausu, Neba-mura, Nagano Prefecture at about 1200 m asl".

Distribution

Known from within 40 km of Mount Chausu, Honshu, Japan: more specifically from Nagano Prefecture: Neba-mura, Urugi-mura, Tenryu-mura, Anan-cho, Hiraya-mura, Achi-mura, Shimojo-mura, Takagi-mura, and Oshima-mura; Aichi Prefecture: Toyone-mura, Shitara-cho, and Asuke-cho in Toyota; Shizuoka Prefecture: Inasa-cho in Hamamatsu.

Comment

Confused with Rana tagoi, with which it is nearly identifical in morphology, prior to its naming according to the original publication. Eto, Matsui, and Kokuryo, 2016, Curr. Herpetol., Kyoto, 35: 128–131, reported on apparent autotriploidy. Shimada, Sanda, and Eto, 2021, Curr. Herpetol., Kyoto, 40: 54–65, reported on the advertisement call at the type locality.
