Rana (Papurana) volkerjane Günther, 2003, Mitt. Mus. Naturkd. Berlin, Zool., 79: 218. Holotype: ZMB 64005, by original designation. Type locality: "in the Wondiwoi Mountains at the base of the Wandammen Peninsula, about 8 km west of the coastal village of Yeretuar, at 550 m a.s.l., 2° 46′ S, 134° 37′ E, Papua, Province of Indonesia".

Distribution

Eastern slopes of the Wondiwoi Mts., 250-700 m elevation, Papua (New Guinea), Indonesia; Bewani and Torricelli mountains, West Sepik Province, Papua New Guinea.

Comment

Most similar to Rana aurata according to the original publication. Kraus and Allison, 2006, Herpetol. Rev., 37: 364-368, provided the first records for Papua New Guinea. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 74, provided a brief account.
