Rana leporipes Werner, 1930, Lingnan Sci. J., Canton, 9: 45. Types: "Coll. Mell, No. 1560", presumably transferred NHMW, but not there now, and presumed lost by Bain, Lathrop, Murphy, Orlov, and Ho, 2003, Am. Mus. Novit., 3417: 27; BMNH 1947.2.3.87 (formerly 1929.3.21.1) recorded as a syntype by museum records but this requires confirmation. Type locality: "Lung Tao Shan [= Mt. Longtou], North Kwangtung [= Guangdong Province]", China.

Removed from the synonymy of Rana livida by Bain, Lathrop, Murphy, Orlov, and Ho, 2003, Am. Mus. Novit., 3417: 27 (who provided an account on page 27–28), where it had been placed by Bourret, 1942, Batr. Indochine: 371; Liu and Hu, 1961, Tailless Amph. China: 211. Liu, Hou, and Hui, 2022, J. Anim. Diversity, 4(4): 1–11, discussed the distribution of mtDNA matrilines andthe species range.
