Restricted to the Kuninaka Plain of Sado Island, Japan.

See comment under the Glandirana generic account. Shimada, 2015, Curr. Herpetol., Kyoto, 34: 80–84, compared iris color patter to that in Grandirana rugosa. Miyu, Soga, Saito, Evans, Kobayashi, Sekiya, Takahashi, Miyashita, and Yoshida, 2022, Wetlands, 42 (7: 66): 1–14, reported on conservation genetics.
