Huang, 1990, Fauna Zhejiang, Amph. Rept.: 83-84, provided an account (as Staurois wuyiensis) for Zhejiang populations. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 3: 1570–1575, provided an account, figures, and range map, and included the species in their Amolops ricketti group. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 416–417, provided a brief account including photographs of specimens and habitat. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 434–435, provided an account, photographs, and a range map.
