Amolops wenshanensis Yuan, Jin, Li, Stuart, and Wu, 2018, Zootaxa, 4415: 504. Holotype: KIZ 021426, by original designation. Distribution

Known  from southern China at two localities separated by by 300 km at Wenshan National Nature Reserve, near Pingzai village, Xichou County, Wenshan city, Yunnan Province, and Diding village, Jingxi County, Guangxi Province; also recorded from Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam.

Comment

In the Amolops monticola group and the sister taxon of Amolops cucae + Amolops compotrix according to the original publication. Pham, Le, Hoang, Pham, Ziegler, and Nguyen, 2020, Russ. J. Herpetol., 27 : 81–86, reported on the Vietnam population. In the Amolops monticola group of Wu, Yan, Stuart, Prendini, Suwannapoom, Dahn, Zhang, Cai, Xu, Jiang, Chen, Lemmon, Lemmon, Raxworthy, Orlov, Murphy, and Che, 2020, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 144 (106701): 1–13, who discussed molecular phylogenetics. Pham, Do, Ngo, Tran, Ziegler, and Nguyen, 2020, Check List, 16: 1025–1041, provided a record from Hai Ha District, Quang Ninh Province, Vietnam, on the Guangxi, China, border. Wangyal, Bower, Sherub, Tshewang, Wangdi, Rinchen, Puntsho, Tashi, Koirala, Bhandari, Phuntsho, Koirala, Ghalley, Chaida, Tenzin, Powrel, Tshewang, Raika, Jamtsho, Kinley, Gyeltshen, Tashi, Nidup, Wangdi, Phuentsho, Norbu, Wangdi, Wangchuk, Tobgay, Dorji, and Das, 2020, Herpetol. Rev., 51: 793, tentatively identified a photograph as of this species from Bhutan; this identification was discussed and rejected by Mahony, Nidup, Streicher, Teeling, and Kamei, 2022, Herpetol.
