Micrixalus torrentis Smith, 1923, J. Nat. Hist. Soc. Siam, 6: 209. Holotype: BMNH (formerly M. Smith 6941), by original designation; BMNH 1924.5.22.5 (reregistered as 1947.2.6.99) is the holotype according to museum records. Barbour and Loveridge, 1929, Bull. Mus. Comp. Zool., 69: 305, record MCZ 9439-40 as syntypes (exchanged from BMNH), but these specimens are likely paratypes given that a holotype was originally designated. Type locality: "Five Finger mountain at 1000 metres altitude", Hainan I., China.
