Comment

Stuart, 2005, Herpetol. Rev., 36: 477, provided specific localities of Rana daorum for Laos. Bain, Stuart, and Orlov, 2006, Copeia, 2006: 57, provided the record of Rana daorum from Huaphan Province, Laos, and doubted the Hong Kong record pending securing of specimens. Ohler, 2007, Alytes, 25: 55-74, regarded this taxon as a synonym of Amolops mengyangensis. Cai, Che, Pang, Zhao, and Zhang, 2007, Zootaxa, 1531: 49-55, placed Rana daorum in Odorrana , but Stuart, 2008, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 46: 51, regarded the species as a member of Amolops, and Stuart, Bain, Phimmachak, and Spence, 2010, Herpetologica, 66: 63, discussed the issue specifically, suggesting the the mtDNA used in the Chen et al., (2005) study was from a specimen of Odorrana hmongorum, this Genbank sequence used by Che et al. (2007) and Cai et al. (2007), and returned Rana daorum to Amolops, in the Amolops monticola group. Stuart et al. (2010) also discussed and rejected the synonymy of Amolops daorum with Amolops mengyangensis. See comments by Biju, Mahony, and Kamei, 2010, Zootaxa, 2408: 44, regarding problems regarding the synonymy of Amolops daorum and Amolops mengyangensis.
