Amolops cremnobatus Inger and Kottelat, 1998, Raffles Bull. Zool., 46: 30. Holotype: FMNH 252861, by original designation. Type locality: "Laos, Khammouan Prov., Nam Phao River, just downstream from border paost on Lak Sao/Vinh road (18° 23′ N/105° 09′ 20″ E)".

Khammouan and Bolikhamxay provinces, north-central Laos, and adjacent Vietnam (Ha Tinh, Nghe Anh, Thanh Hoa, and Quang Binh provinces—see comment), 200-1300 m elevation.


Orlov, Murphy, Ananjeva, Ryabov, and Ho, 2002, Russ. J. Herpetol., 9: 86, provided the Vietnam range. Stuart, 1999, in Duckworth et al. (eds.), Wildlife in Lao PDR: 45, reported an additional population in Laos near the type locality, followed by Stuart, 2005, Herpetol. Rev., 36: 476, who provided another. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 19, provided specific localities for Vietnam. Bain, Nguyen, and Doan, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 109, provided a record from Quang Binh Province, Vietnam.
