Distribution

Coastal northeastern Tanzania and adjacent southwestern coastal Kenya; isolated populations in coastal south-central Mozambique and Tshaneni, Eswatini.

Removed from the synonymy of Pyxicephalus edulis by Scott, Visser, Yetman, and Oliver, 2013, Zootaxa, 3599: 201-228. Spawls, Wasonga, and Drewes, 2019, Amph.
