Ptychadena goweri Smith, Noonan, and Colston, 2017, R. Soc. Open Sci., 4(171389): 3. Holotype: Timothy J. Colston 224, by original designation. Type locality: "Katcha, Bale Mountains National Park, Ethiopia, 6.71779° N, 39.72572° E, 2375 m". act:37FA41E9-7298-427B-A895-55422E6D3331


Known from an elevation range of 2300–2600 m in Ethiopian highland streams east of the Great Rift Valley.


In the Ptychadena neumanni species complex according to the original publication. Freilich, Tollis, and Boissinot, 2014, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 71: 157–169, presented molecular evidence for the existence of this species, which they referred to as species 4 of the Ptychadena neumanni species complex.
