A tetraploid species in the Xenopus andrei group according to the original publication. Evans, Carter, Greenbaum, Gvoždík, Kelley, McLaughlin, Pauwels, Portik, Stanley, Tinsley, Tobias, and Blackburn, 2015, PLoS One, 10(12): e0142823: 24, provided a range map and Rep. Congo locality as part of a revision of the species. Dewynter and Frétey, 2019, Cah.
