Phrynobatrachus uzungwensis Grandison and Howell, 1983, Amphibia-Reptilia, 4: 119. Holotype: BMNH 1982.553, by original designation. Type locality: "about 1000 m in the Mwanihana Forest Reserve, 7° 45′ S: 36° 48′ E, Uzungwe Mts., Kilombero District, Morogoro Region, Tanzania".

English Names

Udzungwa Puddle Frog (Channing and Howell, 2006, Amph. E. Afr.: 296; Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 308). 

Distribution

Near water in the rainforests of the southern and eastern Udzungwa, northern Uluguru, Nguru, and Nguu Mountains in eastern Tanzania, generally above 900 m elevation.
