Phrynobatrachus taiensis Perret, 1988, Arch. Sci., Genève, 41: 286. Holotype: MHNG 1469.81, by original designation. Type locality: "Taï, forêt réserve, Côte-d'Ivoire".

Known only from the type locality in the Ivory Coast.


Allied with Phrynobatrachus viliersi, Phrynobatrachus cornutus, Phrynobatrachus calcaratus, and Phrynobatrachus annulatus, according to Perret, 1988, Arch. Sci., Genève, 41: 275-294. Not addressed by Zimkus, Rödel, and Hillers, 2010, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 55: 883-900, so not assigned to species group by them, but presumably in their group B.
