See account by Inger, 1968, Explor. Parc Natl. Garamba, Miss. H. de Saeger, 52: 96-101, who noted its similarity to Phrynobatrachus acridoides. Not addressed by Zimkus, Rödel, and Hillers, 2010, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 55: 883-900, so presumably in their group C.
