English Names

Ogowe River Frog (Frank and Ramus, 1995, Compl. Guide Scient. Common Names Amph. Rept. World: 104).

Distribution

Known only from Gabon at the type locality (Lambarene, Moyen-Ogooué) and 175 km to the east at Ramba Village, Ogooué-Ivindo Province, Gabon.

See discussion regarding the taxonomic history of this species and Phrynobatrachus brongersmai by Frétey, 2008, Alytes, 25: 102-103. Frétey, 2008, Alytes, 25: 99-172, summarized the literature. Not addressed by Zimkus, Rödel, and Hillers, 2010, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 55: 883-900, so not assigned to species group. Kessler and Zimkus, 2015, Herpetol. Rev., 46: 57, provided the record away from the type locality (Lambarene), at Ramba Village, Gabon.
