Comment

Removed from the synonymy of Petropedetes by Barej, Rödel, Loader, Menegon, Gonwouo, Penner, Gvoždík, Günther, Bell, Nagel, and Schmitz, 2014, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 71: 261-273, where it had been placed by Scott, 2005, Cladistics, 21: 533. Channing, Moyer, and Howell, 2002, Alytes, 20: 13-27, discussed the three species of Arthroleptides, their habitats, range, and provided an identification key to them.Menegon, Doggart, and Owen, 2008, Acta Herpetol., Firenze, 3: 107-127, reported an undescribed species from the Nguru Mountains of eastern Tanzania. Loader, Ceccarelli, Wilkinson, Menegon, Mariaux, de Sá, Howell, and Gower, 2013, Afr. J. Herpetol., 62:40-48, reported on the molecular phylogenetics and biogeography of East African species, and noted an unnamed species in the Nguru Mountains of Tanzania. Channing, Rödel, and Channing, 2012, Tadpoles of Africa: 264–272, provided information on comparative larval morphology.  Drewes and Vindum, 1994, J. Afr. Zool., 108: 55-70, referred tadpoles from southwestern Uganda to this genus, but with additional examination these were reidentified as Amietia ruwenzorica (RD).
