Litoria exophthalmia Tyler, Davies, and Aplin, 1986, Trans. R. Soc. S. Aust., 110: 63. Holotype: AMS R114751, by original designation. Type locality: "Haia village (6° 42′ S, 145° 00′ E), South Simbu Province, Papua New Guinea".

Distribution

Southern slopes (730-850 m) of the mountains of eastern New Guinea.

Comment

In the Litoria exophthalmia group according to original publication. Richards, Hoskin, Cunningham, McDonald, and Donnellan, 2010, Zootaxa, 2391: 33-46, transferred this species to the Litoria eucnemis group and noted that it is part of a likely Litoria genimaculata species complex. Kraus and Allison, 2006, Herpetol. Rev., 37: 364-368, provided records for East Sepik and Gulf Provinces, Papua New Guinea. Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 126-127, provided a brief account. Shea and Kraus, 2007, Zootaxa, 1514: 37-60, commented on the type specimens.
