Hyophryne histrio Carvalho, 1954, Occas. Pap. Mus. Zool. Univ. Michigan, 555: 5. Holotype: MNRJ 1010, by original designation; this number in error according to Targino and Pombal, 2011, Amphibia-Reptilia, 32: 465-475, who noted the correct registration number is MNRJ 2776. Type locality: "Fazenda Repartimento, Municipio de Ilheus, Estado da Bahia, Brazil".

Distribution

Known only from four localities in Atlantic forest remmants in northeastern Bahia, Brazil.

Comment

Dixo, 2004, Phyllomedusa, 3: 77-79, reported the species from a second locality (Una Researve, 15° 10′ S, 39° 31′ W,, Bahia, Brazil). Suzart Argôlo, 2005, Herpetol. Rev., 36: 199, reported two new localities and discussed the distribution. Targino and Wild, 2009, Check List, 5: 24-26, provided a new record, a distribution map, and discussed the range. Targino and Pombal, 2011, Amphibia-Reptilia, 32: 465-475, provided a detailed account.
