Comment

Most closely related to Arcovomer and Chiasmocleis but more "primitive" than either according to Carvalho, 1954, Occas. Pap. Mus. Zool. Univ. Michigan, 555: 8. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543–583, suggested Hamptophryne to be the sister taxon of a group composed of Dermatonotus, Elachistocleis, Hypopachus, and Gastrophryne.
