Comment

Most closely allied to Hypopachus and Gastrophryne but more "primitive" than either, according to Carvalho, 1954, Occas. Pap. Mus. Zool. Univ. Michigan, 555: 13. Pyron and Wiens, 2011, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 61: 543–583, suggested this taxon to be the sister of a group composed of Elachistocleis, Hypopachus, and Gastrophryne.
