Callula notosticta Günther, 1877, Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., Ser. 4, 19: 316. Syntypes: BMNH 1947.2.10.39–41 according to Blommers-Schlösser and Blanc, 1991, Faune de Madagascar, 75: 67 (formerly 1877.2.8.13.15 [2 specimens] and 1876.10.3.13 [1 specimen] according to Parker, 1934, Monogr. Frogs Fam. Microhylidae: 44). BMNH 1947.2.10.40 designated lectotype by Vences, Raxworthy, Nussbaum, and Glaw, 2003, J. Herpetol., 37: 635. Type locality: "Anzahamaru" (2 syntypes) and "Mahanoro" (1 syntype), Madagascar. Restricted to "Anzahamaru" by lectotype designation.

Frogs Fam. Microhylidae: 36; ZMB 31623 (4 specimens) according to Bauer, Günther, and Robeck, 1996, Mitt. Zool. Mus. Berlin, 72: 265, who noted that Ahl's fifth syntype has not been located. Glaw and Vences, 2007, Mitt. Mus. Naturkd. Berlin, Zool., 83 (Supplement): 37, reported on the rediscovered fifth syntype and designation ZMB 31623 (adult; the other specimens having been renumbered) as lectotype. Type locality: "Akkoraka, Central-Madagascar". Synonymy by Guibé, 1978, Bonn. Zool. Monogr., 11: 123.
