Andreone, Glaw, Nussbaum, Raxworthy, Vences, and Randrianirina, 2003, J. Nat. Hist., London, 37: 2119–2149, discussed the occurrence of this species on Nosy Be. Vences, Andreone, and Glaw, 2005, Afr. Zool., 40: 148, noted the possibility that this species might be a member of Cophyla and Glaw and Vences, 2007, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Madagascar, Ed. 3: 138–139, made the generic transfer and provided an account.
