Type locality: "Nieuw-Guinea"; refined by Zweifel, 1972, Bull. Am. Mus. Nat. Hist., 148: 536, to "Triton Bay, West Irian [Papua (New Guinea), Indonesia]".

Western Papua (Indonesia) and and north coast ranges of the north coast ranges of Papua (Indonesia) and Papua New Guinea.

Comment

Menzies, 2006, Frogs New Guinea & Solomon Is.: 270, provided a brief account.Günther, 2010, Vert. Zool., Dresden, 60: 217-224, provided molecular evidence that nominal Xenorhina oxycephala is a complex of species that forms a paraphyletic group with respect to Xenorhina arndti and Xenorhina varia.
