Baragenys exsul Zweifel, 1963, Am. Mus. Novit., 2141: 3. Holotype: AMNH 60103, by original designation. Type locality: "Abaleti, Rossel Island, Louisiade Archipelago, Territory of Papua, New Guinea [Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea]". Incorrect original spelling of generic name.
