Comment

If (following Dubois, 1980, Bull. Mens. Soc. Linn. Lyon, 49: 469-482) Ophryophryne is considered a subgenus of Megophrys, Ophryophryne pachyproctus Kuo, 1985, becomes a secondary homonym of Megophrys pachyproctus Huang, 1981. Closely related to Ophryophryne microstoma according to the original publication. See accounts by Yang, 1991, Amph. Fauna of Yunnan: 66-67; Ye, Fei, and Hu, 1993, Rare and Economic Amph. China: 178; and Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 124-125. See comments by Inger, Orlov, and Darevsky, 1999, Fieldiana, Zool., N.S., 92: 8-9. Secondary homonym of Megophrys pachyproctus Huang, 1985, when in Megophrys. Orlov, Murphy, Ananjeva, Ryabov, and Ho, 2002, Russ. J. Herpetol., 9: 84, noted reports of this species in Laos. See account by Ohler, 2003, Alytes, 21: 34-39, who did not report this species from Laos. Nguyen, Ho, and Nguyen, 2005, Checklist Amph. Rept. Vietnam: 16, provided specific localities for Vietnam. Bain, Nguyen, and Doan, 2007, Herpetol. Rev., 38: 111, provided a record for Ha Tinh Province, Vietnam, and briefly discussed the range. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2: 477-481, provided an account for China and spot map. Distr.: 246, provided an account, photographs, and a range map for China. Fei and Ye, 2016, Amph. China, 1: 735–737, provided an account, photograph, and dot map, as Ophryophryne pachyproctus.
