Comment

Reviewed (as Vibrissaphora leishanensis) by Liu, Hu, and Zhao, 1980, Acta Herpetol. Sinica, 3 (1): 1-9. See accounts by Ye, Fei, and Hu, 1993, Rare and Economic Amph. China 153, and Fei, 1999, Atlas Amph. China: 96. In the Vibrissaphora liui group of Fei, Ye, Huang, Jiang, and Xie, 2005, in Fei et al. (eds.), Illust. Key Chinese Amph.: 70. Zheng, Li, and Fu, 2008, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 46: 706, noted ambiguities in the molecular evidence for this species. See illustration, map, description of geographic range and habitat, and conservation status (as Vibrissaphora leishanensis) in Stuart, Hoffmann, Chanson, Cox, Berridge, Ramani, and Young, 2008, Threatened Amph. World: 444. Fei, Hu, Ye, and Huang, 2009, Fauna Sinica, Amph. 2: 281-286, provided an account, a spot map, and an illustration. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2010, Colored Atlas of Chinese Amph.: 165, provided a brief account including photographs. Fei, Ye, and Jiang, 2012, Colored Atlas Chinese Amph. Distr.: 192, provided an account (as Vibrissaphora leishanensis), photographs, and a range map for China. Shen, 2014, Fauna Hunan, Amph.: 133–136, provided an account for Hunan, China (as Vibrissaphora leishanensis), although this identification is suspect. Fei and Ye, 2016, Amph. China, 1: 477–479, provided an account (as Vibrissaphora leishanense), photograph, and dot map. Fu, Ai, Cai, Qiu, Yao, and Wu, 2021, Animals, 11 (3560): 1–13, reported on genetic diversity and population dynamics.
