In the Boophis majori group according to the original publication. Altig and McDiarmid, 2006, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 119: 418–425, described larval morphology. Glaw and Vences, 2007, Field Guide Amph. Rept. Madagascar, Ed. 3: 158–159, provided an account. Grosjean, Randrianiaina, Strauss, and Vences, 2011, Salamandra, 47: 63–76, reported on larval morphology.
