Rupirana cardosoi Heyer, 1999, Proc. Biol. Soc. Washington, 112: 37. Holotype: MZUSP 62035, by original designation. Type locality: "Mucujê, Bahia, Brazil, 13° 00′ S, 41° 23′ W".

Known only from the northern portion of the Serra do Espinaço, Bahia, Brazil, ca. 1200 m elevation. See comment regarding cryptic species.
