Physalaemus jordanensis Bokermann, 1967, Rev. Brasil. Biol., 27: 135. Holotype: WCAB 34353, by original designation; now in MZUSP. Type locality: "Lagoinha da Serra, 1. 900 m, Campos do Jordão, São Paulo, Brasil".

Distribution

Atlantic rainforest in the Serra da Mantiqueira in São Paulo and Minas Gerais, and 190 km to the east in the connecting Serra do Papagaio, Minas Gerais, Brazil, as well in highlands north of the type locality at Poços de Caldas, Minas Gerais,1650-2350 m elevation.

In the Physalaemus gracilis group of Nascimento, Caramaschi, and Cruz, 2005, Arq. Mus. Nac., Rio de Janeiro, 63: 310. Tolledo, Oliveira, Feio, and Weber, 2009, Check List, 5: 422-424, provided a new record, photograph, and a range map. Giaretta, Martins, and Santos, 2009, Zootaxa, 2266: 51-60, compared the calls of Physalaemus olfersi, Physalaemus moreirae, Physalaemus bokermanni, and Physalaemus jordanensisGomes, Provete, and Martins, 2010, Zootaxa, 2327: 65–68, reported on larval morphology. In the Physalaemus cuvieri clade, Physalaemus gracilis species group, of Lourenço, Targueta, Baldo, Nascimento, Garcia, Andrade, Haddad, and Recco-Pimentel, 2015, Mol. Phylogenet. Evol., 92: 204–216. Hepp and Pombal, 2020, Zootaxa, 4725: 1–106, discussed this species as part of a genus-wide discussion of bioacoustical traits among the species.
