Comment

Probably composed of two cryptic species of which the western form may be conspecific with Hyperolius baumanni and Hyperolius occidentalis, according to Schiøtz, 1967, Spolia Zool. Mus. Haun., 25: 192, and Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.: 113. Rödel and Bangoura, 2004, Tropical Zool., 17: 213-214, discussed this and suggested that evidence available did not support the existence of two species. See also comments under Hyperolius baumanni and Hyperolius occidentalis. Rödel, 2000, Herpetofauna W. Afr., 1: 227-229, provided an account and noted a number of misidentifications in the literature. Rödel and Branch, 2002, Salamandra, 38: 258, reported Hyperolius cf. picturatus from Ivory Coast. Schiøtz, 1999, Treefrogs Afr.: 113–115, provided a brief account and map.
