Hyperolius friedemanni Mercurio and Rödel in Channing, Hillers, Lötters, Rödel, Schick, Conradie, Rödder, Mercurio, Wagner, Dehling, Du Preez, Kielgast, and Burger, 2013, Zootaxa, 3620: 337. Holotype: SMF 85694, by original designation. Type locality: "Karonga, Malawi, . . .  9° 55′ 59.6″ S, 33° 56′ 44.6″ N, 472 m a.s.l.".

Distribution

Known only from the swamp along the shores of Lake Malawi (Malawi, Tanzania, and Mozambique).

Comment

In the Hyperolius nasutus species group according to the original publication. Dehling and Sinsch, 2019, Zool. Anz., 280: 65–77, considered this to be in the Hyperolius nasutus group. Channing and Rödel, 2019, Field Guide Frogs & Other Amph. Afr.: 180–181, provided a brief account, photograph, and range map.
