Hyla ranoides Spix, 1824, Animal. Nova Spec. Nov. Test. Ran. Brasil.: 32. Syntypes: 3 specimens of which one was figured on pl. 6, fig. 3; these three specimens were ZSM 1043/0 (3 specimens), now lost according to Hoogmoed and Gruber, 1983, Spixiana, München, Suppl., 9: 361, who noted that although two of the syntypes were Hylodes nasus, the figured specimen was likely either an Eleutherodactylus or Thoropa.
