Comment

Confused with Trachycephalus imitatrix prior to its naming. Conte, Nomura, Machado, Kwet, Lingnau, and Rossa-Feres, 2010, Biota Neotrop., São Paulo, 10: 201–224, provided a new record from Telêmaco Borba, Paraná. and discussed natural history and the advertisement call. Forti, Foratto, Márquez, Pereira, and Toledo, 2018, PeerJ, 6(e4813): 1–19, characterized the advertisement call. Blotto, Lyra, Cardoso, Rodrigues, Dias, Marciano, Vechio, Orrico, Brandão, Assis, Lantyer-Silva, Rutherford, Gagliardi-Urrutia, Solé, Baldo, Nunes, Cajade, Torres, Grant, Jungfer, Silva, Haddad, and Faivovich, 2021, Cladistics, 37: 36–72, suggested that the taxonomic status of this  taxon relative to Trachycephalus imitatrix requires additional study. Subsequently, Provete, Garey, Picheli, Mello, Gonçalves, Conte, and Rossa-Feres, 2021, J. Herpetol., 55: 237–252, reported that the advertisement calls and tadpoles of this species and Trachycephalus imitatrix differ.
